We took a drive out today, along with a couple of fellow campers, Les and Bob, and visited the nearby villages of L’Arboc and Castellet.
L’Arboc
L’Arboc is renowned for it’s lacemaking and this weekend there is a lacemaking competition taking place. We were told that we’d see lot’s of woman sitting outside their houses making lace by hand. In the event, we didn’t see any at all. We can only assume they were taking a well earned siesta, but we saw evidence of their past efforts in the windows of shops and the local museum and it looked to be incredibly fine work. Luckily it was another gloriously sunny day so we settled ourselves down in the small town square and enjoyed yet another sunny light luncheon on tapas and cava or beer before exploring the village. It’s an attractive little place with several interesting buildings. The Christmas decorations in the small main street included bands of cloth strung across from one side of the street to the other, which we thought looked rather odd.
