Vilanova is well connected by public transport to other coastal locations and today we took the train along the coast to Sitges, a place we have visited before and loved. It was a gloriously warm, sunny day and the beach was as wonderful as ever. There are still lots of little, individual shops in Sitges and we took our time ambling around these and the historic old buildings before settling down at a beach front bar to catch some rays and people watch. It’s hard to remember that it’s December when you’re drinking a cool beer and reaching for the suntan lotion.
Our apologies that the photographs are not of a good standard as they were taken by mobile phone rather than camera (which we left at home!)

After an hour or so of sitting in the sun, we headed for one of the narrow, shady streets for a tapas lunch at El Donostiarra. There is a long bar just loaded from end to end with a variety of different tapas, hot and cold, that is constantly being replenished with different offerings. The choice is so varied it’s almost impossible to choose (check out their website for better photos).

Having had a splendid day in Sitges, we headed back to Vilanova in time for Roland to meet his dental appointment in the hope that he’ll get the crown that came out a couple of days ago fixed!
