Sunday 27th November – Vilanova i la Geltru, Spain

We caught a bus from the campsite down to the town of Vilanova i la Geltru (Vilanova being the new town and La Geltru being the old town) as there was a food festival being held in the covered market.  We’d just started sampling the various tapas on offer, each accompanied by a glass of chilled cava, and listening to the excellent duo that provided the live entertainment, when the most terrific storm blew up.  It started with a thundering hailstorm, the sound of which almost drowned the out the music, followed by torrential rain. We’d never seen a downpour as heavy as this and assumed it would very soon be over.  However, it continued lashing down at the same rate throughout the day so we had no option but to take shelter in a local bar, eventually catching a late bus back to camp.  Despite the weather, we had a very enjoyable day.
