We all took a trip out to Cartagena today, to visit the town in general and to take a tour of the Roman Theatre in particular. At the harbour there is a huge, stunning sculpture by Victor Ochoa in remembrance of those who have lost their lives through acts of terrorism, particularly the 191 people killed in the Madrid train bombings on 11th March 2004.

The Roman Theatre You just can’t keep some people off the stage
The Roman Theatre seats up to 6,000 people and served not only as a place of entertainment but also a centre for political and religious promotion. It was used as a theatre for around 200 years before taking on other roles.
Having toured the remarkable restoration of the Roman Theatre, Linda and Michael went off to visit the Naval Museum whilst Rachel, Thom, Roland and Angela headed off into town. Cartagena has a real buzz about it and a very good selection of shops. Rachel and Angela were much impressed by the comparatively low cost of shoes, although both resisted temptation.
