We arrived at Villa al Mare campsite, Cavallino, our base for visiting Venice, around lunchtime. We’ve established the habit of breaking camp and moving on very early in the day because as it gets later in the season, fewer campsites are open and travellers who arrive later in the day don’t always get pitches.
We were greeted in reception by a German lady who took us on a tour of the site so we could choose our pitch. She pointed to a corner of the site and said. somewhat apologetically “our beach is there, but it’s very small”. We weren’t bothered as we’d had Croatian beaches pretty much to ourselves over the past three weeks or so and this was purely a base for sightseeing Venice. However, when we took a look later in the day, we were surprised to see a lovely long sandy beach, right on our doorstep.
