And it worked. Today it rained. Yes, it had rained on other occasions, but inconveniently in the middle of the night, which is OK for sun worshipers, but not for us Brits who need to keep our caravan in tip top condition.
So this morning it happened. And I had only just noticed that it was raining when Roland, quick as a flash, decided to strip off all his clothes and go outside with just his brush in his hand. Yes that’s right, he was going to wash the caravan. Brilliant! I thought, and I marveled at his technique as I watch in awe through the ever clearer windows.
Our neighbours now look on in envy at our sparkling caravan, almost as much as they looked on in incredulity when they saw Roland washing it. Well they’re German, and they’ve never understood us.
Tonight was to be our last night in Stobrec so we
decided to have dinner at the restaurant, an extravagance we usually avoid, but
it was our last night. The restaurant is open air and overlooks the bay. Roland rather gallantly offered to share the
special seafood platter for two that was on offer as he knows I love seafood
(he doesn’t usually eat seafood in a restaurant as he thinks calorie for
calorie it is not as good value for money as other meals),
The meal was very very good, even Roland had to admit
this and much to his surprise the portions were generous. We both thought that the setting was fabulous, the food was
delicious and company adorable a fitting end to our stay in Stobrec (Split).
