Saturday 6th August 2016 – Staufen

Today is market day in Staufen and the place is fairly buzzing.  It’s a long time since I’ve seen queues at market stalls to buy vegetables, meat and cheeses.  Food is quite expensive here but that’s the price you pay for keeping small, independent shops alive.  We paid nearly four euros for two chicken legs from the local butcher and the same again for four small sausages – but they were very good.

They start busking early over here – and she was very good too                        The thinking woman does it standing up!

After mooching around the market, we cycled back to camp and had lunch and then went for a swim in the camp pool.  We had the pool entirely to ourselves, which was lucky because the sight of the two of us in bathing caps would probably have scared people to death. Eventually, a tide of children and inflatables swept in and we called it a day.
