We drove to Arbon, another nearby lakeside town, to sample the delights of their Tourist Information office. We were in luck. A very helpful lady gave us the information we need so we now have various options to choose from and just need to make our minds up what we want to do… but it’s very warm so we go back to camp and sit in the orchard while we think about it. This site is one where people all stop and talk to each other so it feels very friendly. Maybe it’s because there are more tent campers at this site – we generally find that tent campers are a very friendly bunch.
We got chatting to a couple in a motor home, he is Dutch and she is Swiss, and they live here all year round. They don’t have a house anymore. In the winter, when the site is closed, they stay in the top floor of the house which I believe is also rented out in the season. In the season, they move back into their motor home and help run the site so the young family can get a day off now and again.
Lots more people have arrived today; one family is English but most are Swiss. The weather forecast is good for the next few days so it’s seems families are taking a weekend break before the children go back to school. We’ve been chatting to lots of fellow campers and just spending time enjoying their company.
